Trump Supporters Show Up To DC For Election Protest

Demonstrators gathered in the nation’s capital Washington D.C. before a joint session of Congress on Wednesday to certify Joe Biden’s ‘win’ over President Trump.

“My commander-in-chief called me and my Lord and Savior told me” to come, said Debbie Lusk, 66, a retired accountant from Seattle.

“We either take our country back, or it is no more,” she told AFP.

President Trump tweeted that supporters should head to Washington D.C. for what he promised would be a “wild” day of protests.

On Tuesday night, the president tweeted that Washington is “being inundated with people who don’t want to see an election victory stolen by emboldened Radical Left Democrats.”

“Our Country has had enough, they won’t take it anymore! We hear you (and love you) from the Oval Office,” Trump tweeted. “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Large parts of the downtown area were boarded up, with shops and businesses shuttered by the virus and amid fears of a repeat of the violence that rocked the city during racial-justice protests last year.

Vice President Mike Pence is to preside over Wednesday’s joint session of Congress, in which lawmakers will confirm the state-by-state Electoral College votes that decide the presidency.
