LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!: Biden’s Top DOJ Official Kristen Clarke Arrested for Domestic Violence, Lied Under Oath

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke was recently exposed lying under oath when she was asked if she was “arrested or accused of committing a violent crime against any person.”

The Daily Signal uncovered troves of court records revealing that she was involved in a domestic dispute that led to her arrest and eventual release.

During her Senate confirmation, Biden’s top DOJ official vehemently denied being arrested.

She was nominated by President-elect Joe Biden in 2021 and was confirmed five months later.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris praised Clarke and dubbed her the first black woman to head the Civil Rights Division. She pledged to fight voter suppression and hate crimes “across the country.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) specifically asked then-nominee Clarke, “Since becoming a legal adult, have you ever been arrested for or accused of committing a violent crime against any person?”

She answered confidently, “No.”

However, her answer contradicted the documents acquired by the media outfit.

Clarke was married to Reginald Avery in 2021. On July 4, 2006, according to court records, she attacked him with a knife, deeply slicing his finger to the bone.

According to messages and court documents, the police arrested Clarke related to the crime.

A criminal case was filed against her in the District Court of Maryland for Prince George’s County, but on October 17, 2006, the court dismissed her case without trial.

A year and a half later, Clarke requested an “Order for Expungement of Police and Court Records” for the charges against her.

The court granted her motion in January 2008. Specifically, the district court ordered: “expungement of police records pertaining to [Clarke’s] arrest, detention, or confinement” on or about July 5, 2006, by a “law enforcement officer of the Prince George’s County Police.”

By 2009, Avery and Clarke had finalized their divorce.

In a statement sent to CNN, she justified her lies by saying, “Nearly 2 decades ago, I was subjected to years-long abuse and domestic violence at the hands of my ex-husband.”

“This was a terrorizing and traumatizing period that I have sought to put behind me to promote my personal health, healing, and well-being. The physical and emotional scars, the emotional abuse and exploitation, and the lying are things that no woman or mother should ever have to endure,” she added.

Clarke argued that since the arrest was expunged, she was not entitled to disclose this even under oath during his confirmation.

“When given the option to speak about such traumatic incidents in my life, I have chosen not to.”
