Former Republican Senator Dole passed away at the age of 98 recently. from lung cancer. His funeral service in Washington D.C. was attended by many prominent celebrities and political officials including President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, former President Bill Clinton, Former Vice Presidents Dan Quayle, Dick Cheney, and Mike Pence and many incumbent and former members of congress.
One stand-out attendee in this service was Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz who was quietly sitting in his seat during the proceeding as every polite person would do. But his sheer appearance triggered many “journalists” and woke activists on Twitter. Because Sen. Cruz was not wearing a mask.
WPRI 12 Reporter Kait Walsh pointed out this incident in her reporting:
“Interesting to see who is in attendance at Bob Dole’s funeral. Among those I spotted, Labor Sec Marty Walsh and NBC’s Savannah Guthrie who is sitting next to Tom Hanks. Oh, and Ted Cruz…not wearing a mask.”
After posting this, people started fact-checking her reporting and pointed out that the District of Columbia ended its recent mask mandates on November 22nd.
Walsh wasn’t the only “journalist” to express her mask outrage. The Atlantic reporter Molly Jong-Fast also couldn’t help but report this outrageous act by Senator Cruz. “Almost everyone else is wearing a mask at Bob Doles funeral, but not …” she wrote on Twitter with the Republican Senator’s photo
Yale professor Howard Forman retweeted Molly Jong-Fast and added “That Ted Cruz feels the need to politicize the pandemic at a funeral is absolutely consistent with the disgusting man he has proven to be.
We need leaders who make challenging decisions in SUPPORT of the public, not in support of personal ambitions.”
