Republicans announced an amazing victory in Florida, where a group of concerned citizens joined forces and flipped five school boards from liberal to conservative including Miami Dade County.

Most of the school board candidates backed by Governor Ron DeSantis won their elections on Tuesday. This indicates that Republicans’ conservative stance is changing parents’ minds across the state.

On election night Tuesday, DeSantis declared that 25 out of 30 candidates won their races.

“We were able to take school boards that had leftist majorities … people that wanted to mask your kids, people that wanted to indoctrinate your kids. We were able to replace them all across the state,” DeSantis said.

“We were able to replace union-backed candidates with conservatives.”

In the days leading up to Florida’s primaries, DeSantis campaigned across the state on his “Edcuation Agenda Tour.” He joined the school board candidates to give them one final push before their races.

“We didn’t have a primary for me … we didn’t have Senate [race], attorney general [race], none of that,” he said. “So what was the motivation?” he added, referencing the turnout of Republican voters. “One of the reasons is we worked hard to elect pro-student, pro-parent candidates all across the state of Florida.”

DeSantis endorsed and shared campaign funds with school board candidates as he has made a push to preserve parents’ rights in schools.

Florida’s GOP-controlled legislature has passed bills banning CRT in school and the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Democrats accused the law, Parental Rights in Education Act, of being anti-gay. DeSantis said the purpose of the law is meant to keep children safe and from being exposed to certain subjects at a young age.

“Parents are sick of the nonsense when it comes to education,” DeSantis said. “We want the schools to educate kids, we are sick of the indoctrination. We want to make sure that they’re teaching them the basics, teaching them to read, write, add, subtract all the important subjects, not trying to jam woke gender ideology down their throat, not trying to do divisive rhetoric like CRT that’s teaching kids to hate each other and hate our country.”

“We want true education and parents want to play a role in the schools,” DeSantis said Tuesday. “We believe in a parent’s bill of rights. We believe that parents have a fundamental role in the education and upbringing of their kids. And as long as I’m governor, the state of Florida is going to be standing with the parents throughout this state.”

DeSantis made sure to be clear about why he is fighting so hard in the schools.

“At the end of the day, we’re not going to let this state be overrun by woke ideology,” he said. “We will fight the woke in the businesses, we will fight the woke in government agencies, we will fight the woke in our schools. We will never, ever surrender to the woke agenda. Florida is the state where woke goes to die.”

DeSantis will be facing Democrat Rep. Charlie Crist in November’s general election.
