“He did not start any wars”: Hungary Prime Minister Wants Trump Back

During his annual State of the Nation address, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban reiterated his support for former President Donald Trump’s reelection bid.

“We would really like Donald Trump to return as President and … make peace here in the eastern half of Europe.”

Orban also borrowed Trump’s infamous slogan to share his vision as Hungary prepares for its role as rotating president of the European Council.

“Make Europe great again!” he said. “MAGA there, MEGA here.”

He also complimented the Make America Great Again leader for his “peacemaking” skill.

Orban, during an interview with Le Point in early January, remarked that Trump, by far, is the “most successful US president on the international stage.”

He emphasized the GOP leader’s foreign policy and the Abraham Accords, which he facilitated, to address the conflict and bring back peace in the Middle Eastern region.

“He (Trump) did not start any wars. The Abraham Accords (about the normalisation of relations between Israel and Arab states) were the only serious chance to bring peace, balance, and an acceptable way of life to a very complicated Middle Eastern region,” said Orban.

Orban also hit the current wars in Europe and the conflicts that the US is involved with today. For the prime minister, had Trump won the February 2022 elections, “there would have been no more wars in Europe.”

“Today, I don’t see another leader in Europe or America who would be strong enough to stop a war. Peace has a name – Donald Trump,” said Orbán.

Orban has been vocal of his support for the former president and has been involved in various pro-Trump activities, he also openly endorsed the Republican leading nominee in his bid for reelection.

He stated, among other things, that “if Trump were president, the war would not have started” in Ukraine, and that the return of Trump would “bring peace.” In response, Trump praised Orbán.

Last year, during the European CPAC summit, Orban hit liberalism and described it as a “virus.”

He also called for Trump to return to office, as he believed both of them shared the same principles in governance.

He said: “I’m sure if President Trump would be the president, there would be no war in Ukraine and Europe. Come back, Mr President. Make America great again and bring us peace.”

For Orban, Hungary is an incubator where conservative policies are being tested.

During the conference site, the entrance was declared a “no woke zone.” Inside it, there was an enlarged quote with the statement: “No country for woke men.”

Guests also arrived in shirts displaying Orban and Trump together and describing both leaders as “peacemakers,” and “saviors of the world.”

In September last year, Hungarian foreign minister Peter Szijjarto expressed the same views as Orban and said, “Here is further proof that those who want peace can trust Donald Trump because, after decades of total failure and inefficiency, the Abraham Accords have brought back the hope of peace in the Middle East.”

“Most of the world voiced doubts and reservations, but today it has been proven that the Abraham Accords do work,” emphasized the Hungarian Minister.
