Gavin Newsom is getting desperate.

After Ron DeSantis scored a massive win in Florida, Newsom challenged the governor to a debate on CNN.

Newsom tweeted: “Hey @GovRonDeSantis, clearly you’re struggling, distracted, and busy playing politics with people’s lives. Since you have only one overriding need — attention –let’s take this up & debate. I’ll bring my hair gel. You bring your hairspray. Name the time before Election Day. @CNN”

DeSantis has not responded to Newsom’s challenge yet, but it is clear that the California governor is feeling the heat.

DeSantis commented on the matter: “You didn’t see him scrambling to get his Cabinet together when we had Americans that were victimized by criminal aliens that you had across the border.

“You didn’t see him scrambling to get his Cabinet together when we hit record fentanyl deaths, which that fentanyl is coming across his open border.

“It’s only when you have 50 illegal aliens end up in a very wealthy affluent sanctuary enclave that he decides to scramble on this.

“And so instead of scrambling and worrying about a bunch of rich people, and having 50– and oh, by the way, they already bussed them out. They’re gone.

“They said we want everyone, no one’s illegal, and they’re gone within 48 hours.”

The California governor says he wants to discuss the issue of migrant kidnappings, which he has accused the Florida governor of being involved in.

Newsom also wants the DOJ to investigate whether Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott can be charged with kidnapping for sending migrants to other parts of the country.

The challenge comes after DeSantis accused Newsom of being “soft” on crime.

“I’m happy to debate Gavin Newsom anytime, anywhere,” DeSantis said in a statement. “He’s the one who’s been soft on crime, soft on illegal immigration and is now trying to distract from his own failings.”

Newsome wrote a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland: “Like millions of Americans, I have been horrified at the images of migrants being shipped on buses and planes across the country.

“Transporting families, including children, across lines under pretenses is morally reprehensible, but may also be illegal. Several individuals who were transported to Martha’s Vineyard have alleged that a recruiter induced them to accept the offer of travel based on false representations that they would be transported to Boston and receive expedited access to work authorization.

“Accordingly, I strongly urge the US Department of Justice to open an investigation into possible criminal or civil violations based on this alleged fraudulent scheme.

“In particular, I urge DOJ to investigate whether the alleged fraudulent inducement would support charges of kidnapping under relevant state laws, which could serve as a predicate offense under the RICO laws.”

Newsom was a vocal critic of the Trump administration’s hardline immigration policies, and he has made sanctuary cities a key part of his agenda. Earlier this year, he signed a law that bars state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
