BREAKING: The Sentence of Jussie Smollett Has Been Revealed After He Staged His Own Hate Crime

Jussie Smollett learnt his fate in December after being convicted of conducting a hate crime hoax. Judge James Linn sentenced the former “Empire” star to 150 days in prison, 30 months of felony probation, a $25,000 fine, and restitution to the city of Chicago on Thursday after he was convicted last year of lying to Chicago police about being the victim of a hate crime.

Smollett continued to maintain his innocence after the judgment, shouting, “I am not suicidal.” As he walked out of the court, he continued to yell, “I’m not suicidal, and I’m innocent.” I could have declared myself guilty a long time ago.”

Following his conviction, Nenye Uche, the actor’s attorney, stated that he disagreed with the judgment and expected that his client will win on appeal.

“He (Smollett) is quite certain that this will be overturned on appeal,” he added. “At the end of the day, we trust that justice will be served.” We don’t believe it was completed (in December), but we are optimistic that he will be exonerated and proven innocent.”

Because the actor had no past convictions, his bond was not revoked, and former Cook County prosecutor Darren O’Brien anticipated that Smollett would not face prison time.

“Normally, the bail is canceled if the individual is going to be brought into custody,” he stated. However, Joey Jackson, a CNN legal commentator, anticipated that the actor would face probation, but that by testifying, he put himself in danger of jail time.

His defense attorney said that the prosecution’s case was based on falsehoods.
