Former President Donald Trump maintains a commanding lead against Republican rivals and Democratic Party leading nominee President Joe Biden, according to the latest ABC News/Ipsos poll, which was conducted from January 4 to 8.

The survey also finds Biden hitting another all-time low for any president in the past 15 years.

Only 33 percent of the total respondents approved of Biden, a 4 percent drop from the previous poll conducted in September last year. The result shows that about 58 percent do not favor Biden, a two percent uptick from last year’s 56 percent.

ABC News remarked that this has been the lowest approval rating since George Bush.

Biden, who is aiming for reelection, even has a lower approval rating than former President Donald Trump despite him facing multiple legal battles.

When probed whether they approved or disapproved of Trump’s handling of the presidency during his time, 41 percent of the respondents approved of the Republican leader.

Additionally, only 28 percent of respondents agree that Biden has adequate mental sharpness, a four percent drop from last year.

Plunging further, Biden’s approval rating among Black people drops to 21 points, and 15 points among Hispanic people.

On handling the economy, only 31 percent of the respondents approved of Biden, while 56 percent expressed disapproval.

When asked why the economic climate seems glum, 24 percent said, “The economy is in good shape, given low unemployment and rising wages.” More striking, 71 percent remarked that “the economy is in bad shape, given higher prices and interest rates.”

Biden’s rating on immigration policy also suffered a blow, where 63 percent of the respondents disapproved of his handling of the border crisis. This is the lowest rating on immigration for any president in the past, according to the ABC News/Washington Post polls.

Forty-eight percent of the respondents also disapprove of his handling of the Israel and Hamas war.

The nationwide poll also finds Trump in a good position as Republicans and Republican-leaning independents approved of him based on three metrics: winnability in November, strength, and being the party’s most qualified candidate.

At least seven out of ten GOPers and GOP-leaning voters favor the Republican leader overall.

“In all, 72 percent of Republican-aligned adults would be satisfied with Trump as nominee, similar to 75 percent in May,” ABC News reported.

The ABC News/Ipsos poll surveyed 2,228 adults, with a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
