World Economic Forum Founder Klaus Schwab in Critical Condition

Mr. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, was reported to be critically ill and has been admitted to the hospital recently. However, the nature of his hospitalization and his current condition have not been disclosed.

The report has resulted in various reactions from the global community and speculations, especially among social media users.

Schwab, 86, founded the WEF in 1971. Billionaires and leaders in business, politics, and academia assemble in this annual event in Davos, Switzerland, where they tackle political and economic issues. Attendees formulate various ways to “reshape the world,” tackling global economic issues, including environmental sustainability.

Despite posing as a nonprofit foundation, the WEF has long been criticized for its elitism, hypocrisy, lack of transparency, and issues of democracy.

Groups lashed at Schwab and WEF for allowing politicians and elites to dominate the forum. Their policies often reflect and protect the interests of the wealthy instead of the broader population, such as their policy to reduce carbon footprint, while hundreds of its attendees are riding on million-dollar-worth limousines and flying around in private jets.

The forum was also often hounded with transparency issues; one example was the Davos meeting last January, where Swiss banker Hubert Keller discussed how much carbon dioxide coffee production releases into the atmosphere.

“Basically, the coffee that we all drink emits between 15 and 20 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of coffee. So we should all know that this is—every time we drink coffee, we are basically putting CO2 into the atmosphere,” quipped Keller.

If the WEF adopts Keller’s points, millions of coffee growers would soon lose their livelihoods in exchange for “climate justice.”

Australian politician Malcolm Roberts blasted WEF for its hypocrisy, saying: “The elitists at Davos love to chat about restricting travel while comparing the private jets they flew in on. They push EVs, yet the Davos limos are fuel-powered. The forum sessions openly plot to reduce animal farming and fishing, yet they dine on the finest steak and seafood. Where do we draw the line?”

“It’s all part of the plan to make you feel guilty for existing and changing purchases to products owned by WEF-connected billionaires. Reject the CO2 climate scam. One Nation is hugely pro-human and anti-WEF.”

House Republicans also proposed legislation to prevent taxpayers’ dollars from funding the WEF.

Dubbed the Defund Davos Act, this law would disallow any funds accessible to the US Department of State, the United States Agency for International Development, or any other government agency from financing the WEF.

“Forcing American taxpayers to fund annual ski trips for insular, global elitists is absurd—not to mention reprehensible,” remarked Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), one of the bill’s sponsors.

“The World Economic Forum doesn’t deserve one cent of American funding, and it’s past time we defund Davos.”
