According to Fox News, Russia’s president warned that joining NATO would have “severe military-political ramifications.” The letter was issued by Maria Zakharova, a Russian government foreign ministry spokesperson, as her country’s military resumed its offensive in Ukraine.

“Finland and Sweden should not rely their security on undermining the security of other countries,” she said, adding that “their entrance to NATO may have negative implications and face certain military and political consequences.”

The Russian Ministry issued the same threat following the speech. “We consider the Finnish government’s commitment to a military non-alignment strategy to be a vital aspect in preserving security and stability in Northern Europe,” it stated.

“Admission of Finland to @NATO would have severe military and political ramifications.” Finnish Ambassador Mikko Hautala stated on Twitter that his country values its relationship with NATO. “Many individuals in Washington, DC, have questions regarding Finland and NATO.”

The alliance’s partnership is critical to us. We preserve the option of applying for membership while keeping a robust national defense. “It is each nation’s sovereign right to make security policy judgments,” he stated.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg warned on Thursday that if Moscow launches an assault, the organization would protect its members.

He stated that NATO has deployed its Response Force for collective security after Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened the alliance by urging it to withdraw soldiers from member countries or suffer repercussions.

“This is far bigger than Ukraine,” he remarked. “This is about how Russia is confronting and contesting key ideals for our security.” Then he issued a warning that NATO should remove all forces and infrastructure from almost half of our members.

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, seemed to criticize US President Joe Biden for his lack of assistance while his country being bombarded by Russia.
