Meghan McCain says she’s HAD ENOUGH, will be leaving ‘The View” for somewhere she can ‘freely express her opinions’

Meghan McCain will leave “The View” at the end of July, the co-host said on Thursday at the beginning of the popular daytime show.

“I’m just going to rip the bandaid off,” McCain said at the top of the show. “I am here to tell all of you, my wonderful cohorts and viewers at home: This is going to be my last season here at ‘The View.’” “This was not an easy decision,” she said of her departure, noting that the coronavirus pandemic had changed her priorities. “On a professional note, this show is one of the hands-down greatest most exhilarating most wonderful privileges of my entire life,” McCain said.

After announcing her decision, McCain’s co-hosts praised her. Whoopi Goldberg said it had been “wonderful” to have her as a colleague on the show. Joy Behar, who McCain repeatedly battled with on the program, said she was a “formidable opponent” and “no snowflake.”

McCain, the daughter of the late U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., joined the show in October 2017. She, along with hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin, discuss daily newsworthy topics on politics and news. In a statement, ABC News said that it understands and respects McCain’s desire to leave for her family.
