In a recent interview with Greta Van Susteren on Newsmax, former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson expressed his political views, to the surprise of many, as conservative.
Mike said that when he was young, he was a liberal, but as he has gotten older, he has grown more conservative because it “is common sense.”
Mike explained that as he looks at the world we have now, he wants safety and security, which are two things that conservatives typically stand for.
This is a shocking admission from Mike Tyson, who was once one of the most controversial figures in the world. It will be interesting to see if his admitted conservatism will change any of his fans’ opinions of him.
In an interview with Fox News, Tyson said that his change in political views was due to “common sense” and wanting to keep his children safe in today’s world.
“When I was younger, I was all-out liberal. But as I get older, and I look at my children, and I see what’s out there in the world, I get a little conservative,” Tyson said.
“It’s common sense, looking at the world we have now. You want safety.”
Tyson’s comments are sure to cause controversy, given his history of violence both inside and outside the ring. However, it appears that the boxing legend has had a change of heart in recent years and is now more concerned with safety and security for his family.
Only time will tell if Tyson’s new political views will have any impact on his career or public image, but for now, it’s certainly a surprising admission from one of the world’s most famous athletes.
Tyson also praised DeSantis for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying that he did a “fantastic job” in Florida.
Tyson’s comments come as a surprise to many, given his past endorsements of liberal politicians like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. However, it seems that the former champion has had a change of heart in recent years.
“I’m not happy with the way things are going,” Tyson said of the current state of the world. “I think we need a different perspective.”

Tyson’s comments also highlight the growing trend of black Americans embracing the Republican Party. Under Trump, the GOP made significant inroads with black voters, and that trend is likely to continue in the future.
