‘Inappropriate:’ Netanyahu to Schumer’s Election Meddling in Israel

In an interview with CNN on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hit U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for new elections in Israel.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said Schumer’s remarks were “totally inappropriate. It’s inappropriate to go to a sister democracy and try to replace the elected leadership there.”

The Israeli Prime Minister is now facing immense pressure from world leaders to negotiate a ceasefire with Hamas terrorists.

He added that Schumer, the Senate Majority leader, attempted to topple his government.

“That’s something that Israel, the Israeli public, does on its own.”

We’re not a banana republic,” blasted Netanyahu.

The prime minister further said that the US should focus on bringing down the terrorist government in Gaza, which murdered over 1,000 Israelis, and dozens of Americans.

Recent polls in Israel also show that the broad majority, 82 percent, backs Bibi Netanyahu.

“The majority of Israelis support the policies of my government.”

“It’s not a fringe government. It represents policies supported by the majority of the people. If Senator Schumer opposes these policies, he is not opposing me. He’s opposing the people of Israel.”

Netanyahu added that most Israelis support seizing Rafah to disempower Hamas.

Furthermore, the people of Israel “oppose the idea of ramming down a two-state solution or a terrorist state against their will.”

He also refused to commit to Schumer’s call for new elections as the country is currently at the culmination of war.

“We’ll see when we win the war, and until we win the war, I think Israelis understand that if we were to have elections now before the war is one resoundingly won, we would have at least six months of national paralysis, which means we would lose the war.”

The prime minister further added that this issue is for the Israeli people to decide.

Back at home, Schumer also received backlash for his interference with Israel’s sovereignty.

Rep. Michael McCaul, the chairman of the House of Representatives Foreign Relations Committee, slammed the Senate Majority leader and said: “You don’t talk about toppling a government in a democracy.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) hit Schumer for his statements and said it is “highly inappropriate.”

“We want to speak very clearly and concisely to say that this is not only highly inappropriate; it’s just plain wrong for an American leader to play such a divisive role in Israeli politics while our closest ally in the region is in an existential battle for its very survival,” said Johnson.

House Majority Leader Whip Emmer (R-Minnesota) equated the Senate majority leader’s call with an attempt to meddle in Israel’s election.
