Heads are Now Rolling: RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel To Step Down Amid Financial Misuse Allegations

A recent development on the Republican National Committee, Ronna Romney McDaniel is finally stepping down from her position as Chairwoman, as the GOP looks forward to the upcoming South Carolina primary. This information was first reported by The New York Times.

This news comes after former president Donald Trump met with McDaniel in his Mar-a-Lago estate, as he hints at internal “changes” with the RNC.

After their meeting, Trump expressed his intent to offer recommendations for the development of the party after the upcoming South Carolina GOP primary.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social:

“Things are looking great in the Presidential Race of 2024 against Crooked Joe Biden. We have Leads, in many cases substantial, in virtually every Head-to-Head Poll. The Primary seems to be over, but I’ll be going to South Carolina next week to finish off a very unpopular Candidate. On Thursday, I’m heading to Nevada for the Nevada Caucus, where there are 26 Delegates – Hopefully, we’ll get most of them. In my successful run in 2016, the State of Michigan really came through – First time in Decades that it was won by a Republican, and it was headed up by my friend Ronna McDaniel. Ronna is now Head of the RNC, and I’ll be making a decision the day after the South Carolina Primary as to my recommendations for RNC Growth.”

According to people close to McDaniel, the RNC chairwoman had informed President Trump of her plans to resign from her position.

As per the New York Times article, Trump favors North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley to fill the vacated position.

Ronna McDaniel has been under fire since assuming the position in 2017. During her term, the Republicans suffered a series of election setbacks, where the party lost eight gubernatorial races, three Senate seats, 19 House seats, and a presidential race.

Furthermore, under McDaniel’s leadership, the GOP reached an eight-year low in donations. The 13th District Committee in North Carolina criticized her for “frivolous spending” while maintaining an “abysmal performance.”

In a recent investigative article by The Redstate, journalists slammed the RNC for spending $1.5 million on floral arrangements, private jets, limousines, tickets to Broadway shows, and high-end retail stores.

The Red State utilized data reported by the RNC and Democratic National Party between October 20, 2022, and November 30, 2023.

The study revealed that the RNC spends much more than the DNC on office supplies, management consulting, media booking consultants, and limousines.

As reported by Politico, RNC’s Chief of Staff Mike Reed will resign from his position this month.

Reed explained that he intends to focus on personal matters as the primary reason for his departure.

Republicans welcomed this development, many of whom have been campaigning for her resignation since last year.

One user expressed, “Sad to see Ronna McDaniel resign. She helped President Biden and Democrats destroy Republicans for years.

David A. Clarke Jr, wrote: Ronna Romney McDaniel must resign. RNC/GOP is in shambles. Her head-in-the-sand approach that all is well is delusional. Glad to see donors hanging onto their wallets.

The Raging Patriot co-founder Nicholas Pagnotta echoes the call for McDaniel to step down.

While The Raging Patriot staffer, Gary Ruot exclaimed: “Huge win for America!”
