GOOD RIDDANCE: Cuomo submits SHAMEFUL resignation as Kathy Hochul is sworn in as New York’s first female governor

Former Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul was sworn in as New York’s first female governor on August 24th, 2021.

After the ceremony, Hochul said, “Today, for the first time in New York history, a woman will enter that arena as governor. I will not be deterred. And I’m willing to be bloodied and marred in the pursuit of doing what’s right for the people of this great state.” Governor Hochul is 62 years old and a long-time Democrat from Erie County in Western NY, her political endeavor began locally, expanded to Congress, and led her to be governor today.

In her speech, she mentioned COVID-19, “Your priorities are my priorities and right now that means fighting the delta variant.” The latest reports suggest Hochul will continue with the former governor’s COVID-19 policy plans, including vaccine mandates or weekly testing.

Former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo officially resigned from his office after confirmed sexual assault scandals and political pressure. Earlier this month, Attorney General Letitia James released the investigation into Cuomo, officially finding him guilty of sexual harassment and breaking federal law. The incidents span his two terms from 2013 until 2021. After publication, President Biden, NY state lawmakers, and Cuomo’s constituents called on the governor to resign.
