George Soros Backs Pro-Hamas Terrorist Group

Just like the Biden administration, leftist billionaire megadonor George Soros has funded more than $1 million during the past ten years to a group with strong connections to Hamas terrorists, as per the Washington Examiner’s recent article.

The so-called Democrat philanthropist, through his $25 billion Open Society Foundations, a grantmaking network, has sponsored programs under the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.

Al Mezan claims to “promote respect for and protection of human rights,” especially in territories under Palestine. However, public records expose another version of the center’s nature.

Al Mezan has been vocal in its criticisms of Israel for retaliating against Hamas after its attack on October 7 last year. The group demands the United Nations and other formations probe Netanyahu’s administration for its “genocide,” host activities with terrorists, and front organizations. Furthermore, the organization is led by people with questionable connections, especially with Hamas, the Popular Front of the Liberation of Palestine, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

But Soros doesn’t seem to mind. His grantmaking network “is proud to be among the many international funders of Al Mezan alongside the European Union and governments including Sweden and the Netherlands,” says Open Society Foundations spokesman Jonathan Kaplan.

Kaplan served as President Barack Obama’s State Department Communications Director. The spokesman declined to comment when the news outlet presented him with examples that proved Al Mezan’s connection to terrorists.

The former communications director added that “there is strict U.S. anti-terrorist legislation that determines which organizations a foundation like OSF can fund,” he told the Examiner. “We devote a lot of effort to ensuring full compliance.”

The institute also allocated thousands of dollars in 2013 and 2014 for at least one individual to train at Al Mezan.

During this period, Kamal El-Sharafi, a Palestinian government official and chairman of Al Mezan, met with Popular Front of the Liberation of Palestine leader Jamil al Majdalawi in Cairo, Egypt. El-Sharafi referred to him as a “comrade.”

Al Mezan’s chairman also posted images on social media showing him attending funeral services for PFLP leaders.

El-Sharafi also hosted PFLP officials while head of the board of trustees of Al-Aqsa University, a Gaza-based university.

Last Tuesday, Al Mezan organized an event at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva that allegedly explored “the settler-colonial nature of Israel’s genocidal military campaign in Gaza.”

Worse, on October 8, after Hamas carried out a terrorist siege on Israeli communities along the southern border of Gaza, the group blasted Israel for retaliating. Their statement was co-authored with Al Haq, an Israeli-designated terrorist group, and is also funded by the billionaire.

NGO Monitor hit Al Mezan and said, “Under the facade of human rights, they promote Hamas propaganda, and the links to the PFLP terrorist group are clearly documented.”
