The former Democrat Rep. from Tennessee, Justin Jones, who was recently expelled because of his participation in a protest at the state Capitol against guns, is arguing that he was removed because of the “White Supremacist System.”

Following the Nashville Christian school shooting incident in which six people were killed, anti-gun activists and protestors invaded the state Capitol, demanding the prohibition of assault weapons.

Then-state Democrat Rep. Justin Pearson, along with Jones, were also the participants of the protest because of which they were expelled from their seats, last week on Thursday, as they violated House regulations.

Democrat Rep. Gloria Johnson also took part in the protest, however, she was not expelled.

On Sunday, while talking with MSNBC host Al Sharpton, Jones claimed:

“We’re in the midst of a third Reconstruction here in Tennessee that hopefully will have national implications. But what it means is that this White supremacist system being led by Speaker Cameron Sexton is an attempt to divide and conquer us. But in reality, you see we, the Tennessee Three, we continue to stand together.”

He added:

“Though their vote was racist, though their vote was to expel the two youngest Black lawmakers, their attack on democracy hurts all of us, whether you’re Black, brown or White, it’s an assault on all of us!”

Despite Jones’ claims that the expulsion of three Tennessee Democrats was a “racist” move, David Webb, the Fox News contributor, pointed out that the Democrat lawmakers were expelled because they violated House rules.

Webb explained:

“They broke rules that have been in place for a very long time. And enough already with this racism. If everything’s racism, nothing’s racism. They didn’t throw you out because you were Black. They threw you out because they had the votes, and you violated the rules.”

While discussing the removal, Tennessee GOP Caucus chair, Rep. Jeremy Faison, noted that the Democrat lawmakers were “leading a choir” in the protests.
