Americans expressed uncertainty if President Joe Biden will survive another four-year term of office, as found by DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners in its latest polling.
According to the poll, only 38 percent of voters think Biden will be alive to complete his term if reelected.
Additionally, around 36 percent think VP Kamala Harris will finish his term.
The survey reflected how much Americans consider Biden’s age in the coming elections.
Even though his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, was only four years younger than Biden, a lot of voters are more concerned about the latter’s mental and physical capacity.
According to James Johnson, cofounder of J.L. Partners, “Voters think Biden is too old, and they are not changing their mind.”
‘The difficulty for Biden is that views of him are not shaped through events such as his State of the Union address—which people who had seen it felt was fiery—but through consumption of the hundreds of viral social media clips of Biden stumbling and slurring.
‘That solid perception that he is too old feeds through to a sense he is too weak, and it is a major problem for him going into November. Frankly, they do not think he is up to the job—and that makes his re-election a much harder task.’
Biden attempted to downplay this issue during the State of the Union, as he raised issues of ‘hate, anger, revenge, [and] retribution’ as among the ‘oldest ideas’ that have been plaguing the nation.
He also played with humor to diffuse people’s concerns about his mental acuity.
Furthermore, the poll also found that “one in three voters thinks President Biden won’t survive another four-year term in the White House.”
In a separate poll, Dailymail.com revealed that Biden is still trailing Trump by four points, which shows that despite Biden’s ‘road tour’ and dragging SOTU address, he still has failed to convince the voters.
This has been the trend since December.
According to the media outlet, “When 1000 likely voters were asked who they would pick if the election were tomorrow, 39 percent said Biden and 43 percent said they would opt for Trump.”
Johnson of J.L. Partners said, “The State of the Union may have pleased Beltway commentators, but there was little sign it had swayed voters.”
“Though he has a more favorable view among those who were already voting for him, few have changed their minds since our last poll, and Trump remains on course to win the popular vote,” Johnson added.
“Plenty could change, but a combination of a disastrous Biden brand, positive memories of the Trump administration, the dominance of the border issue, and court cases only galvanizing rather than hurting Trump’s support means that Trump remains ahead as we move into the second quarter of the year,” he quipped.
