Conservative commentator leads pack to replace Gavin Newsom

Larry Elder, a popular conservative author and radio host is currently leading major polls for the upcoming California recall election to replace the incumbent governor Gavin Newsom. He is by far the most popular conservative candidate in this race.

A poll released last week shows that Larry Elder is the most popular candidate so far and is preferred by 16% of all poll responders.

Businessman John Cox and former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer are now tied second behind Elder at 6%. Caitlyn Jenner, who was the front runner is now tied third at just 4%.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Elder mentioned that he decided to enter his first office race after witnessing California’s out-of-control homeless crisis, spiking crime rates, looming water and power shortages, and whipsaw of lockdowns.

This recall election will be held on the September 14th, 2021. The process will be bit different from a regular election. Voters will be faced with two questions on the ballot: 1) “should Gavin Newsom be recalled?” And 2) “who should replace him?” If more than 50% voters chose “yes” to the first question, the highest voted replacement candidate will be the next Governor of the Golden State.
