On Thursday last week, Officials revealed that a former Democrat mayor from a Northern California city, Robert Jacob, was sentenced to 7 years in prison under the charges of lewd sexual conduct with a young child aged 14 years.
The Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office reported that the mayor of Sebastopol in Sonoma County, Robert Jacob, is not pleading to contest the six major crimes against him, including sexual harassment with an underaged earlier this year in January, and was declared guilty.
District Attorney, Carla Rodriguez stated in a press briefing:
“The victim should be commended for coming forward to report what Mr. Jacob did. His bravery in reporting Mr. Jacob’s crimes has made the community a safer place.”
Jacob met the 14-year-old victim on an online platform in 2020. Jacob chatted with the victim for the next whole year and gradually the chats became sexual and explicit.
Jacob used to share his filthy videos with the victim as well as send invitations to come over to his residence in Sebastopol to sexually harass the victim.
As per the prosecutors, Jacob also invited another anonymous person to his residence to have sex with the young victim.
According to the report by the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, the child, after turning 16, testified in court the previous year and revealed that Jacob met him through the Grindr dating application, knowing that he was underage.
Jacob argued no contest to getting involved with a minor victim in filthy acts, sending adult material to a minor, sexual penetration of an underaged, and trying to connect with an underaged to commit a sex crime.
Finally, Jacob was penalized last Thursday and sentenced to a 7-year prison term, which he has started serving.
He will be ordered to register as a sex offender after his prison term gets finished.
