The nation never hears about any sitting Judge unless they become a political tool and get nominated for the Supreme Court or preside over some ridiculous celebrity trial. An eastern Tennessee District Court Judge out of Knoxville has put his name on the map this week by taking on President Biden.

U.S. District Judge Charles Edward Atchley Jr. was appointed to his current position by President Trump in 2020. Earlier this week, Judge Atchley punched the Biden Administration right in the gut by temporarily blocking the transgender rules they enacted upon taking office.

The Democrats are obsessed with gender politics and the President has tried to enforce rules that allow transgender athletes to play sports that align with their gender preference. The administration also wants to allow transgender students to use bathrooms that match the gender they identify as.

The Democrats believe they can enforce these rules based on the anti-discrimination laws of Title IX, which was part of the Education Act of 1972. The law ensures no person is discriminated against based on their gender in any program that receives federal funds.

The athletic world has been at the forefront of this for five decades. Equal opportunity must exist in sports for both men and women. In collegiate athletics, this usually appears when a men’s college team gets cut from a school’s program to ensure there is a women’s team. It is usually baseball getting cut.

One of the biggest sports stories of this year involves Lia Thomas, a swimmmer on the University of Pennsylvania women’s team who transitioned from a man to woman earlier this year. Thomas previously competed for the men’s team up until the 2021-2022 academic year.

The controversial Thomas was an average men’s swimmer but dominated early in women’s competitions. Eventually, the swimmer got beat in the NCAA Championships. That didn’t stop the NCAA from nominating her for the Woman’s Athlete of the Year.

A University of Kentucky swimmer has been the leading opponent of Thomas’ participation in the woman’s sport. Riley Gaines has gained national attention as an outspoken critic of Thomas from the start.

People are listening to Gaines’ voice and courage. The University of Kentucky has nominated her for NCAA Women’s Athlete of the Year which sets up an epic confrontation for the NCAA. It appears Judge Atchley is also listening based on his ruling.

The lawsuit brought before Judge Atchley was filed by twenty different States Attorneys Generals. They all want to see fairness and equality in women’s sports as well as safety in women’s bathrooms and locker rooms across the country.

The Biden Administration incorrectly applied a ruling in the Bostock V Clayton County ruling in 2020 to try and enforce their gender politics on the nation. The case in that ruling prohibited businesses from firing people identifying as gay. It had nothing to do with sports participation or bathroom use.

There are multiple cases underway in the nation and Judge Atchley’s ruling will no doubt be used in those matters. The Biden administration will fight to expand their identity politics and continue to throw women and young girls to the side to do so.

Judge Atchley isn’t the only one fighting on behalf of women. San Antonio, Texas will be front and center in that battle in January when the NCAA announces the 2022 Woman Athlete of the Year. The hype and tension will be higher than ever before. Will it be the Wildcat or the Quaker? It will be interesting for sure.
