The House Democrat-led January 6th committee is planning to release its final “report” on the unrest that took place at the U.S. Capitol following the 2020 election.

The January 6th committee is preparing to release its final report in early January 2023 before Republicans take control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The committee, led by Democrats, sought to find out what happened at the U.S. Capitol that day.

According to a leaked report, “The committee members are expected to formally approve the report at a Dec. 21 public meeting of the panel described by Chair Bennie Thompson,” the Democrat from Mississippi.

“Lawmakers will be able to propose final edits before the draft is expected to be sent to the Government Publishing Office for printing later this week. The final report, according to those briefed on it, will have eight chapters that align closely with the evidence the panel unveiled during its public hearings in June and July,” the report stated.

According to the leaked information, the final chapters of the report are as follows:

–Trump’s effort to sow distrust in the results of the election

–Trump’s pressure on state governments or legislatures to overturn victories by Joe Biden

–Trump campaign efforts to send pro-Trump electors to Washington from states won by Biden

–Trump’s push to deploy the Justice Department in service of his election scheme

–The pressure campaign by Trump and his lawyers against then-Vice President Mike Pence

–Trump’s effort to summon supporters to Washington who later fueled the Jan. 6 mob

–The 187 minutes during which Trump refused to tell rioters to leave the Capitol

–An analysis of the attack on the Capitol

Some of Liz Cheney’s staffers are lodging complaints against her. They believe that the Republican representative from Wyoming is working “behind the scenes to ensure” that the committee’s final report puts all of the focus on former President Trump.

They feel like this will leave out other important information. A former staffer told the Washington Post, “We all came from prestigious jobs, dropping what we were doing because we were told this would be an important fact-finding investigation that would inform the public, but when [the committee] became a Cheney 2024 campaign, many of us became discouraged.”

A Cheney spokesperson said in response to the complaints, “Donald Trump is the first president in American history to attempt to overturn an election and prevent the peaceful transfer of power. So, damn right, Liz is ‘prioritizing’ understanding what he did and how he did it and ensuring it never happens again.”

The spokesperson also contends that some of the staffers have submitted material for the report that “reflects long-held liberal biases about federal law enforcement, Republicans, and sociological issues outside the scope of the Select Committee’s work.”

He assures the public that Liz Cheney will not sign off on any narrative that paints Republicans with a broad brush as racist, white supremacists, or anything that smears law enforcement officers.
