It is an unfortunate ailment of the news cycle that on a fairly regular basis, we have to read about the clownish and risible figures of “The View”. We have to read about the three most ironically named people in show business: Joy, Sunni, and Whoopi and hear not about a view, or a body of views, but indeed of the only and only “The View”. Now, we get to report on at least some optimistic news regarding The View.

It has just recently been reported by Fox News that:

On “The View” this week, co-host Whoopi Goldberg announced she would be leaving Twitter and fellow co-host Joy Behar fumed over Americans not voting in a Democratic “supermajority” during the midterm elections.

“So it has been a little over a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter and the place, it’s a mess,” Goldberg said on Monday. “I’m — I’m getting off. I’m getting off today because I just feel like, you know, it’s so messy.”

She added she might rejoin the social media site if she feels more comfortable.

“I’m going to get out, and if it settles down and I feel more comfortable, maybe I’ll come back,” she said. “But as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter.”

Fox News further reported that:

Following the midterm elections on Tuesday, the hosts were generally pleased that a “red tsunami” did not materialize.

On Wednesday, co-host Sunny Hostin declared President Biden to be the real winner of the midterms as some states remain too close to call.

“Who was the winner last night? Joe Biden. Let’s not forget every person he endorsed, almost every single person, won,” Hostin said after comparing him to Donald Trump.

The daytime host praised the president’s wins in the last two years of his presidency and considered the night a sign that he should run for re-election in 2024.

It was further reported by Deadline that:

Co-host Sunny Hostin agreed with Goldberg’s assessment of Musk-era Twitter, saying, “It’s become such a hellscape.”

“I follow legal scholars there, I follow SCOTUS blog, I follow thought leaders, and it’s such a good place for that,” Hostin said, adding, “And now you’ve got this Elon Musk turning it into something it was never intended to be. He says it’s going to be ‘the public square.’ Well, I don’t want to be part of that public square but I also don’t want to miss the valuable information that can be put on there.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, the show’s conservative voice, said she has a “love-hate relationship with Twitter,” appreciating the news that can be gotten from the platform but agreeing with Hostin that it’s become “a hellscape.”

Deadline went on to further report that:

Co-host Ana Navarro, citing a recent European Union law that demands social media platforms combat misinformation, said, “I think it’s time the U.S. government take a look at this, because in the same way that we are regulated by the FCC and radio stations are regulated, frankly, a place like Twitter has far more reach and is far more dangerous.” As for Musk, she said, “he is there causing drama on a daily basis.”

Goldberg wrapped up the segment by noting, “People keep saying it’s free speech, but all speech is not free speech. Some speech is not okay free speech. So everybody has to agree on that, but if people keep saying ‘You hurt my free speech” it’s going to be a problem. You know what? This is our problem. But it ain’t my problem today because I’m out.”

Whoopi Goldberg and Twitter is a little bit of an old combinatio\n. The Raging Patriot reported just last week that On Monday’s episode of ABC’s The View, one of the hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, offered her opinion, calling Twitter “a mess” since billionaire Elon Musk became the owner of the social media platform.

She said, “So it has been a little over a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter and the place, it’s a mess… He also suspended Kathy Griffin for impersonating him on a parody account, which has started a FreeKathy hashtag to trend. I’m — I’m getting off. I’m getting off today because I just feel like, you know, it’s so messy.”

She’s not fond of the “attitudes” that have been allowed back on the site.
Whoopi may not know that she herself can block things or accounts she doesn’t want to see.

Goldberg clarified her position saying that she’s going to wait and see if things simmer down and get better eventually. “I’m going to get out, and if it settles down and I feel more comfortable, maybe I’ll come back. But as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter,” she said.
