Violence in LIBERAL cities hit ALL-TIME HIGHS—two shootings in Chicago leave 2 dead, 15 injured

After a violent night in Chicago, two people were killed and at least 15 others injured in two shootings, the Chicago Police Department said Monday.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot said that preliminary information suggests the shootings were “internal gang conflicts, retaliatory shootings for past incidents.” She said, “For some in our community, their thirst for revenge has no sense of decency. They don’t want to let the criminal justice system play itself out.” At least 11 people who were standing outside in the South Artesian Avenue area were shot around 11 p.m. Sunday.

Three men “emerged from an alley and fired shots into the crowd,” police said in an online statement. One woman was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. Four other women between 24 and 57 were also shot and are listed in fair or good condition at hospitals.

Six men, ranging in age from 21 to 42, are also being treated at various hospitals for gunshot wounds mainly to the leg and torso. Their conditions range from good to serious. The Chicago Police Department said it does not have any suspects and did not indicate a motive for either shooting. Over the weekend, there were at least 47 shootings with at least 72 injuries and at least five deaths, according to information posted on the Chicago Police Department’s website.
