Trump’s defense team reportedly requested that the indictment be put on hold so that witness tampering allegations could be investigated. That request was denied.

Trump was overheard discussing the situation at his club in Bedminster, NJ, saying that the indictment is an attempt to impact the 2024 presidential election.

Should the DOJ follow through with the indictment, it would be the first federal charge against a former president and the first time a sitting U.S. president’s administration would indict the leading opposition candidate in an upcoming presidential election.

Who would ever imagine this would happen in the United States of America?

Trump took to his media platform, Truth Social, to share his thoughts on the possible indictment:

Wow, this is turning out to be the greatest & most vicious instance of ELECTION INTERFERENCE in the history of our Country. Remember, I’m leading DeSanctimonious BIG in the Polls but, more importantly, I’m leading Biden by a lot. Also, & perhaps most importantly, they are launching all of the many Fake Investigations against me RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF MY CAMPAIGN, something which is unheard of & not supposed to happen. DOJ, FBI, NEW YORK A.G., NEW YORK D.A., ATLANTA D.A. FASCISTS ALL!

Chief Political Correspondent for the Washington Examiner, Byron York, reported on Trump’s reaction to the news.

“They’ll do whatever they can to win the election,” Trump said of Biden’s Justice Department.

“If I were down in the polls, where I wasn’t going to win — I’m way up on Biden, by the way, far more than DeSanctimonious — if I were going to lose the election, or if I wasn’t running, they wouldn’t even waste their time. This is a civil situation. It’s a civil case. At most, it’s a civil case.”

“This is the greatest witch hunt of all time,” Trump said. “This is election interference. I did absolutely nothing wrong. The Presidential Records Act is 100% clear. … There was no crime committed. This is a civil thing.

“They could sue me civilly to get things back, but every president took things when they left the White House. … And then they [go after] me criminally? I don’t think the people are going to stand for it.”

“When you say the people are not going to stand for it, what do you mean?” York asked. “Do you mean they’re going to elect you again? Or that they’re going to be out in the streets?”

“I think we’re going to win the election by a lot,” Trump replied. “Yeah, I could see protests, big protests, having nothing to do with me other than the fact that I’ve been treated very unfairly.”

Following Trump’s indictment by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, his poll numbers soared. Another indictment may help his poll numbers as hardcore Trump supporters see this as the unfair treatment that began in 2016 and continues to this day.
