Now that we know that was a lie, propagated by 51 former “intelligence” officials, and the Republicans have taken the majority in the House, things are heating up for the first son.
In addition, Hunter’s lucrative opportunities dried up due to the public scrutiny surrounding his relationships with foreign businesses.
The president’s son will now need some help with his legal bills, which could reach millions of dollars.
Allies of the Biden family have discussed starting a legal defense fund to assist Hunter as he looks at additional investigations and “legal challenges.”
Both the Washington Post and NBC News have reported on this.
According to NBC:
The discussions are in the preliminary stage, and as of now, Hunter Biden’s legal advisers have not been planning for the potential creation of a defense fund to help him pay for representation in the face of GOP investigations they view as unfounded and overtly political.
There have been ongoing discussions within Hunter Biden’s circle of advisers about how to respond to Republican probes and accompanying GOP attacks, said multiple people with knowledge of the discussions.
Until recently, the strategy was to exercise caution and restraint, preparing for future moves quietly until the federal criminal investigation into Hunter Biden, which has been run out of Delaware, has reached a conclusion about whether charges will be filed.
In addition to his tax issues, the GOP is looking into the younger Biden using his father’s position for influence peddling.
How is it that out of nowhere, Hunter Biden is an artist worthy of selling his work for upwards of half a million dollars? To anonymous buyers to boot!
Rep. James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, recently questioned Hunter’s art dealer.
In a letter, he wrote, “Your arrangement with Hunter Biden raises serious ethics concerns and calls into question whether the Biden family is again selling access and influence.”
“Despite being a novice artist, Hunter Biden received exorbitant amounts of money selling his artwork, the buyers’ identities remain unknown, and you appear to be the sole record keeper of these lucrative transactions.”
“It is concerning that President Biden’s son is the recipient of anonymous, high-dollar transactions—potentially from foreign buyers—with no accountability or oversight (other than you),” the letter went on.
“The American people deserve transparency regarding certain details about Hunter Biden’s expensive art transactions.”
In speaking with The New York Post, Georges Berges, the gallery owner, said that the request for sales information has to go through his lawyers.

Rep. Comer spoke about what the GOP is doing at the National Press Club.
He said, “We have evidence that … we’ll continue to be transparent with as we start our hearings next week, where this family is taking in millions of dollars from our adversaries.”
“And I think we need to determine what was that money for [and] who supplied that money?”
