If you thought the illogical Covid policies were going away, you thought wrong. Teachers and therapists working in the NYC Department of Education were blacklisted for deciding not to get the Covid-19 vaccine.
Whether it was for religious, personal, or health reasons, NYC teachers who passed on getting the vaccine ended up having their personnel files flagged.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, their fingerprints were sent to the FBI and the New York Criminal Justices Services, according to the legal group Teachers for Choice.
Teachers for Choice is an “organization comprised of teachers and parents that are 100% against forced medical mandates for any American to keep their job, especially educators.”
The vaccine mandate imposed by the city of New York required all Department of Education employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID by September 5, 2022.
According to records, 1,950 NYC DOE employees had been fired for declining the vaccine as of mid-September 2022.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams ended the vaccine mandate for NYC workers on February 10 of this year.
Those who were unvaccinated, however, have a “problem code” in their personnel files which keeps them from obtaining employment.
An assistant principal in the Bronx shared her story. She was suspended without pay for not getting the COVID vaccine.
According to an affidavit, the woman applied for more than 60 jobs and received zero offers. One interviewer clued her in and told her that her file had a problem code attached to it for “misconduct.”
Her sin? Making a personal health decision.
After her home went into foreclosure and her son had to leave college, she felt that she had no other choice than to get vaccinated in order to care for and feed her family.
Another DOE employee discovered that she also had a problem code on her file. She was a therapist at NYC’s Early Intervention Program for children with disabilities or developmental issues.
She said, “I was shocked that I had been flagged as ineligible to work because such problem codes often indicate poor performance reviews, misconduct, or even criminal activity. None of these apply to me.”
The woman explained how it was difficult to understand “how someone from outside the DOE could even possess this incorrect information.”
She continued, “I was extremely embarrassed by its negative implications, and I was immensely disappointed that I had to inform the families that I had been assigned to that I could not service their children.”
The New York Criminal Justice Services “maintains criminal history records and fingerprint files and performs background checks for employment and licensure.”
An attorney representing terminated employees addressed the real problem with these flagged personnel files.
He said, “When the city puts these problem codes on employees who have been terminated because of their unconstitutional policies, not only do they have this flag in their files, but their fingerprints are sent with that flag to the FBI and the New York Criminal Justice Services.”
This impacts their “ongoing ability to get employment.”
It’s a sad commentary that in the U.S., the land of the free, people have been flagged and punished for objecting to a vaccine on religious or other grounds.
