“The View” Co-Host Grills Lesley Stahl Over Insufficient Comebacks During The 60 Minutes Interview With MTG

Co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” exploded over CBS’ journalist Lesley Stahl and argued that while interviewing GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, she didn’t sufficiently push back against the congresswoman’s statements.
Co-host Sara Haines stated:
“I don’t think it legitimizes her any more than her words embarrassed her but I actually in this instance think it was a bad move for ‘60 Minutes,’”
Co-Host Ana Navarro argued that the audience was disappointed with the interview as the majority held “60 Minutes” and Stahl to a “high level” and that the interview did not meet the expectations.
Haines claimed that CBS gave her a “louder microphone than she deserved or has earned” by interviewing MTG.
Co-host Sunny Hostin stated that at the time when she had no problems with MTG having a platform, she was expecting more comebacks from Stahl.
Hostin stated:
“I don’t have a problem with her having that platform because I thought she looked like an idiot. I hate to do this because I think Lesley Stahl is such a great journalist. I wanted statistics and pushbacks. ‘Well, why do you say that? Who have you heard say that? What about this statistic? What about that?'”
She added:
“You know Lesley always got a book full of receipts, where were they? Where were the receipts? And they weren’t anywhere! It was very frustrating.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin stated that it was more like a “chicken or egg” discussion.
She stated:
“I feel like it is a little bit of a chicken or egg discussion. MTG is in our public consciousness, she’s been mocked on ‘SNL,’ she’s a staple of it, everyone knows who she is, she’s a household name, but her actual authority and power, voting power, legislative power in Congress is pretty small.”
Farah Griffin acknowledged Hostin’s remarks and expected Stahl to push back a bit more on MTG.
Hostin stated:
“She’s good, she’s a very, very sound journalist.”
