According to The Hill, the Child & Parental Rights Campaign filed a federal complaint on Jan. 24 against a Florida school district on behalf of two parents who say that school officials concealed and inflated their 12-year-old daughter’s mental health concerns. According to the complaint filed on behalf of Wendell and Maria Perez, Clay County District Schools suppressed their daughter’s mental health and gender identity difficulties for months. They further alleged that the school only informed them after their daughter attempted suicide in a school restroom twice.

The lawsuit claims that the school violated “confidentiality standards” by keeping discussions concerning Perez’s daughter’s gender orientation from parents, although teenagers do not have confidentiality rights in school counseling sessions. The parents claim that the district violated their custody rights under the Florida Constitution and the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Wendell Perez told Fox News on Thursday that he and his wife were not informed of his daughter’s meetings with school counselors due to “Catholic ideals.” “The counselor met with her alone to discuss our child’s gender. She was groomed to [be] someone she isn’t, and she was encouraged to do so “Perez stated on The Ingraham Angle.

He further claimed that school authorities used a male name and pronouns to refer to his daughter in front of other students regularly. Clay County District Schools issued a statement to CBS station WJAX-TV 47 stating that the allegations made by Wendell and Maria Perez and the Child and Parental Rights Campaign are unfounded. “We conducted an investigation into these claims and believe the statements made by this out-of-state body [are] invalid,” the statement said.
