Senator Cotton Blasts President Biden For ‘Appeasing’ Everything Russian President Putin Desires

Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas condemned President Joe Biden’s “appeasement” of Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin, as he appeared to be contemplating an attack on Ukraine on Sunday. Cotton described Biden’s stance toward Putin as problematic from the outset in an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.” “Over the last year, Joe Biden’s vulnerability has been his appeasement of Vladimir Putin,” he noted. “During his first week in office last year, he gave Vladimir Putin’s top foreign policy priority, an extension of a badly one-sided arms-control treaty, and then he gave Vladimir Putin’s top foreign policy priority, lifting sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline under construction between Russia and Germany.”

Putin, he added, sees Biden’s record over the last year and is frightened that he believes now is the moment to go after Ukraine, which he has wanted to do for as long as he has been in power. Cotton stated that the United States military is “obsessed” with diversity in its ranks, claiming that the military’s sole priority should be on preserving the nation. “While the diversity of America may be represented in our military and strength, as I experienced during my years in the Army,” he said, “it is not something that our military needs to continuously concentrate over.” “Troops fight for the flag on their shoulder, as well as the man and woman on their left and right.”

Cotton has promised that there will be no “smear” of a candidate during the Senate’s vetting of the next Supreme Court nominee. “I assume we will all have an open mind, and we will examine the nominee on her merits,” he added, referring to Biden’s pledge to appoint an African American woman to the Supreme Court. “I can’t say I have wild expectations that Joe Biden will nominate someone who I think I can support, or that many Republicans can support, because I’ve seen dozens of his nominees to the lower courts and they’ve almost all been left-wing ideologues who believe judges should make the law rather than apply and uphold the Constitution and the laws as they are passed,” he said.
