Rising Demands for Pennsylvania Attorney General to “Step Aside”
Demands for the Pennsylvania Attorney General to “step aside” are rising after comments he’s made about the election. Josh Shapiro first said that a few days ago that “if all the votes are added up in PA, Trump is going to lose.” He then urged voters who need help with the election to reach out to Democrats.
He posted to Twitter and tagged the Pennsylvania Democrats and encouraged voters to reach out to them if they needed help filling out their ballot.

After his remarks, GOP Attorney General candidate for the state, Heather Heidelbaugh called on Shapiro to “step aside” entirely from the process. She released a statement saying,
“Shapiro cannot be seen as having his thumb on the scale, acting in the dual roles of legal arbiter of the vote and a candidate deeply invested in its outcome.” She then called on the AG to “appoint a trusted and impartial deputy to oversee any legal questions and disputes in which that office might play a role concerning this election. The outcome of these elections in Pennsylvania must not be muddled with this glaring conflict of interest.”
Shapiro’s statements prompted a lot of criticism on Twitter.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf revised his previous statement about the number of outstanding ballots. He told reporters today that millions of ballots are still being counted. He also said that the results may not be counted and released today. But said “the most important think is we have accurate results. Again, even if that takes a little longer than we’re used to.”
In addition to calls of the Attorney General to “step aside”, two Republican state senators Joe Scarnati and Jake Corman are calling for Secretary of State Kathy Boockavar to resign. They are calling for her resignation after she agreed with the governor’s claim that there are still millions of ballots to be counted. They say she “fundamentally altered the manner in which Pennsylvania’s election is being conducted” within the last two days.
