According to Politico, the Jan. 6 House committee founded by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would dissolve at the end of the current Congress, and any attempt to resuscitate it would have to be included into the rules of the next Congress, or by a subsequent resolution supported by House leaders.

Some Republicans feel the panel should be abolished, while others predict a GOP counter-inquiry into the incident will be formed.

“I’m probably in the camp that says, “Just let it go.” I don’t want to waste any more of our time dealing with it “According to Politico, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, stated.

According to Politico, rookie Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C., said it would be “asinine” for a GOP majority to disband the panel, and Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., has requested that it be used to examine claims about the Justice Department’s participation in the Jan. 6 attack.

“I don’t think the Jan. 6 committee can be disbanded,” Gaetz added.

“I believe we should take over the committee on January 6th.” Republicans like as Gaetz and Cawthorn feel that Capitol security should be prioritized by the committee. According to Politico, post-Jan. 6 evaluations revealed deficiencies in the Capitol Police’s intelligence operation as well as an overall lack of preparation for a frontal assault on the building.

Hill security is overseen by House and Senate sergeants at arms, in coordination with the Capitol Police commander. Pelosi, D-Calif., has repeatedly emphasized the chain of command in the aftermath of the attack, despite the fact that she had no role in their planning for that day.

McCarthy, R-Calif., has refused to provide details of his January 6 discussions with former President Donald Trump, according to Politico.

Republicans close to McCarthy claim that the fate of the Jan. 6 committee is in his hands. “Look, it’s going to rely on what Leader McCarthy wants,” said Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill., the party’s senior member on the committee with jurisdiction over Capitol security.

CNN said that the committee, which was formed on January 6, has questioned over 300 witnesses and acquired over 35,000 data.

According to CNN, House investigators are subpoenaing bank records to look into the money behind the pro-Trump rallies that preceded the violence, as well as messages and other contacts to dig into Trump and his pals’ participation.
