REPUBLICANS FIGHT BACK: Senator Ted Cruz introduces bill to block federal funding for critical race theory

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has created a bill to block federal funding for critical race theory (CRT). The END CRT Act would prohibit federal funding to agencies or recipients who seek to use taxpayer money for CRT training in the workplace.

While introducing the bill, Senator Cruz said, “The federal government has no right to force a political agenda onto Americans, especially one that aims to tear down our institutions and divide us based on race. Critical Race Theory originated out of the critical race studies movement. It is a Marxist ideology that sees the world as a battle, not between the classes – as classical Marxism does – but between the races. This is inherently bigoted.”

Representative Burgess Owens of Utah introduced the companion bill in the House, stating, “I grew up attending segregated schools in the Jim Crow South during a time when people were treated differently based on the color of their skin. Critical Race Theory preserves this way of thinking and undermines civil rights.”

Texas has already established legislation banning the teaching of CRT in schools. States also enforcing anti-critical race theory legislation include FloridaIdaho, and Wisconsin
