President Trump Says Republicans Will Swiftly Select Next Supreme Court Justice
On Friday night, the long-time Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed at 87 due to complications of pancreas cancer. President Trump has made clear that he intends to nominate a successor in very quick fashion.
Majority leader Mitch McConnell has come out publicly and said he will vote for whoever Trump nominates. This comes four years after McConnell blocked President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland in 2016. U.S. Circuit Judge Amy Coney Barrett is reportedly seen as the leading contender, sources close to the president claim.

Meanwhile, Presidential nominee Joe Biden said the nomination should be delayed until the next presidential term. He told reporters, “The voters should pick the president and the president should pick the justice for the Senate to consider.”
