Poll: Majority of Americans Support Law Enforcement, Cash Bonds

A recent Harvard CAPS – Harris Poll revealed that almost 3 out of 4 Americans support law enforcement and oppose the progressive left’s push to defund police, and in some cases, outright abolish them.

In the national May poll, 1,864 people were asked their thoughts on law enforcement.

1,370 of those respondents selected “very favorable” or “favorable,” as opposed to only 374 who opted for the opposite.

Nearly 74% of those surveyed sounded their support for the men and women who serve and protect our communities. Of those, more than twice as many Democrats selected favorable options than selected unfavorable. In comparison, on the left side of the poll, 189 people who identified as Democrats chose ‘very favorable” in opposition to 77 who chose “very” in the opposite direction.

What does this mean for the leadership of the progressive left like Cori Bush, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who are campaigning on platforms such as “Defund?”

According to The Conservative Brief:

“Most Americans don’t want to live in communities void of law enforcement. This only leads to more crime, less safety, and overall chaos. At this point, elected officials who still fail to grasp why defunding the police is such a bad idea have no place being in office.

Next year’s midterms mark the first chance to vote out lawmakers who have called to defund law enforcement.”

In fact, many voters aren’t waiting until the mid-terms to do something about it.

One example comes out of the college town of Norman, Oklahoma, where members of that town are looking to recall the mayor and members of the city council who voted to defund the police department in the Oklahoma City suburb.

As reported by Law Enforcement Today, “Following the decision to reallocate almost one million dollars from the annual police budget in response to pressure from vocal groups of protesters, a petition was formed by a group called Unite Norman to recall the Mayor Breea Clark and half of the Norman City Council who voted in favor of the cuts.”
