Pfizer RECALLS Chantix shipment after high levels of cancer causing chemical found—WHAT ABOUT THE VACCINE?

Pfizer issued a recall for a Chantix shipment after high levels of a cancer-causing chemical was found in the anti-smoking drug.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Pfizer recalled 12 lots to the consumer level because of N-nitroso-varenicline traces that exceed company standards. The FDA reported on the company’s voluntary recall, writing, “Long-term ingestion of N-nitroso-varenicline may be associated with a theoretical potential increased cancer risk in humans, but there is no immediate risk to patients taking this medication. The health benefits of stopping smoking outweigh the theoretical potential cancer risk from the nitrosamine impurity in varenicline.”

According to Pfizer, there are no reports of adverse events related to the recall. Pfizer also produces COVID-19 vaccines, similar to Johnson and Johnson, which also recently ordered a product recall.

Five sunscreen products were taken off shelves last week due to a different cancer-causing chemical. The chemical, benzene, is known to cause health issues and is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Benzene is known to contribute to the development of blood cancer.
