Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey will Testify Before the Senate Judiciary Committee to Address Allegations of Censorship

Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook and Jack Dorsey from Twitter are scheduled to testify next month before the Senate Judiciary Committee for allegations of their companies censoring information on their site. Particularly the bombshell report form the New York Post about the Hunter Biden laptop and their handling of the 2020 election. Committee Chairman Senator Lindsey Graham said, “The hearing will focus on the platforms’ censorship and suppression of New York Post articles and provide a valuable opportunity to review the companies’ handling of the 2020 election.”

After the New York Post released their report they became locked out of their Twitter account and so did anyone who shared information about the report, like White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany. The New York Post has not been able to tweet anything from their account since October 14, the day they released the article. The big companies have received a lot of backlash for what seems like censorship of very important information.

A representative for Facebook said they wanted to slow the spread of the report until it was verified to be true. Dorsey now says that Twitter has mishandled the situation and said it was “unacceptable” that the article was blocked, but didn’t give any clarification as to why it was blocked on the site.

Dorsey and Zuckerberg have agreed to testify voluntarily after facing threat of subpoena from the Senate Judiciary Committee if they didn’t do it on their own volition. Republicans have been talking about censorship on social media for years, but this seems to be the most obvious and blatant example from both of the companies.
