Major Development: House Oversight Committee Aims To Hold Eight Separate Hearings On The Biden Administration This Week

The House Oversight Committee is ramping up oversight of the Biden administration with eight hearings expected over the next three days.

“We have eight hearings this week!” tweeted the committee’s official account Monday.

“Accountability is coming!”

The first hearings start on Wednesday on the origins of COVID-19, advances in artificial intelligence, the border crisis, and the depletion of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). The border hearing will have testimonies from chief border patrol agents and the COVID-19 origins investigation will feature the former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director and health/science experts.

On Thursday, the committee will examine the role of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the government’s largest employer, and also “waste, fraud and abuse” in pandemic spending. OPM’s Director Kieran Abuja and other officials from the Treasury Department, the Small Business Administration, and the Department of Labor are set to testify.

And finally, on Friday, the committee will investigate the Biden family after allegations that the Treasury Department is “stonewalling” the GOP probe into Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings.

Fox News reported

The Treasury Department’s chief of legislative affairs Jonathan Davidson is set to testify as the sole witness Friday. Davidson previously worked on the Biden-Harris transition team as the Economic Nominations Confirmation team lead and previously worked as chief of staff for Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo. for a decade.

Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., previously told Fox News Digital that the investigation into how the Biden family “peddled influence and access around the world for profit” is the “top priority” for the new GOP House majority.

There will also be a separate hearing on government spending amid nationwide inflation Friday.

An investigation into Hunter Biden has been a top priority for the House Oversight Committee for some time now.

Comer sent out letters in January to top Twitter executives Yoel Roth, Vijay’s Gadde, and James Baker to investigate their “role in suppressing Americans’ access to informatioabout theeh Biden family on Twitter shortly before the 2020 election.”

Comer said that the investigation into how to Biden family “peddled influence and access around the world for profit” is the “top priority” for the new GOP House majority.

“For the past two years, the Biden Administration and Big Tech worked overtime to hide information about the Biden family’s suspicious business schemes and Joe Biden’s involvement,” Comer told Fox News Digital.

“Now that Democrats no longer have one-party rule in Washington, oversight and accountability are coming.”

“For years, the Biden family peddled influence and access around the world for profit, often at the expense of our nation’s interests. The American people must know the extent of Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s shady business deals and if these deals threaten national security and his decision-making as president,” Comer said.

He added, “This investigation is a top priority for House Republicans during the 118th Congress. The investigation will inform legislative solutions to protect Americans’ First Amendment right to freedom of speech and press and prevent public officials and their family members from using public office to enrich themselves.”
