Louisville Declares State of Emergency Ahead Of Breonna Taylor Decision
The Louisville Metro Police Department canceled all off days and vacation requests until further notice. The department is preparing for Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s announcement in the Breonna Taylor case. The news was announced on Monday afternoon by Sgt. Lamont Washington.
Sgt. Washington also said in a statement, “The public may see barriers being staged around downtown, which is another part of our preparations.” In addition, federal buildings have been closed for the week in anticipation of the decision. The General Services Administration has already begun taking steps to ensure the protection of the buildings.
Breonna Taylor was a 26-year old EMT who was fatally shot by police after they executed a late-night ‘no-knock’ warrant. Taylor and her boyfriend were involved in a narcotics investigation.
