The segment began when the table discussed newly selected White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and her partner, CNN reporter Suzanne Malveaux, and whether there’s a conflict of interest.
Hostin and co-host Ana Navarro immediately teamed up and went after guest co-host Lindsey Granger.
Granger argued it was important to have discussions “about what happens when you’re in bed with somebody,” and that people didn’t want to see situations where the media gives a politician an advantage.
When Hostin went after Black Republicans, Granger tore her to pieces.
Below is a transcript of the exchange:
NAVARRO: “Okay, I know this may be a novel point, a novel idea, for somebody who’s a supporter of Trump, but there are people who are capable of being related and not having ethical interests.”
GRANGER: “Have I ever said that I was a supporter of Trump? There’s many things that I don’t stand by that Trump did. Trump has done things that are racist. I’m a black woman first, so always understand that. But I do say that I have many conservative values that I will talk to you about, and so if you look at your network that you’re standing behind —“
HOSTIN: “Are you a Republican?”
GRANGER: “Yes, and when you look at your network that you’re standing behind, you’re saying that you look at Chris Cuomo—“
HOSTIN: “I feel like that’s an oxymoron: a black Republican.”
GRANGER: “You feel like it’s an oxymoron?”
HOSTIN: “I do.”
GRANGER: “Why? Your friend right here is a Republican.”
NAVARRO: “We’ve had this conversation many times.”

GRANGER: “You do. You say you feel like it’s an oxymoron that you’re Catholic but you also are pro-life.”
HOSTIN: “I don’t understand either of you.”
GRANGER: “You don’t understand yourself then.”
HOSTIN: “I understand myself. I don’t understand either of you.”
GRANGER: “It’s not a personal conversation. I don’t — we’re having a personal conversation about CNN and how things can get leaked.”
HOSTIN: “I don’t understand black Republicans and I don’t understand Latino Republicans. I don’t.”
NAVARRO: “Today, this is not about me and it’s not about you. It’s about celebrating Karine Jean-Pierre and the history she’s making.”
(Applause)
BEHAR: “And we will be right back.”
