Iran Ready To Work On Nuclear Deal With Biden

Top Iranian officials are demanding that President Biden lift sanctions regarding returning to the Iran nuclear deal before any more negotiations can happen.

Joe Biden, who took office Wednesday afternoon, has said that the United States will rejoin the pact, which includes restrictions on Iran’s nuclear work, if Tehran decides to have strict compliance, though Secretary of State Tony Blinken said the incoming administration was a “long way” from returning to the Iranian nuclear deal.

“The ball is in the U.S. court now,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a televised cabinet meeting Tuesday. “If Washington returns to Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal, we will also fully respect our commitments under the pact.

“Today, we expect the incoming U.S. administration to return to the rule of law and commit themselves, and if they can, in the next four years, to remove all the black spots of the previous four years.”

Iran is one of the biggest concerns about Biden’s foreign policy, former Sen. Joe Lieberman stated on Wednesday.

“I thought the Iran deal was a very bad deal,” Lieberman told FOX Business’ he also stated that he was “very glad” when President Donald Trump took the United States out of the deal.

This has “helped a lot of steps forward in the Middle East, including the unprecedented peace agreements between some of the Arab countries and Israel.”

“What we say is that whatever has happened under Trump’s administration must go back to the pre-Trump era. We are serious about it,” Mahmoud Vaezi, chief of staff to Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, told Iran’s Tasnim News Agency on Monday.

Shahriar Heydari, the deputy head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, shared a similar perspective with Iranian media on Sunday afternoon.

“If the cruel sanctions that were imposed on the Iranian nation under Trump are not to be lifted, the JCPOA will certainly be a loss for Iran,” Heydari said.

Back in September, Biden wrote an opinion piece for CNN calling the Trump administration’s Iran policy a “dangerous failure,” adding that he would speak to Tehran and offer “a credible path back to diplomacy.”
