HUGE REPUBLICAN WIN: Gov. Gavin Newsom recall becomes OFFICIAL after verification of 1.7M signatures

The California recall of Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom has become official upon the verification of 1.7 million signatures.
This is despite Newsom’s anti-recall efforts to have constituents rescind their signatures, which only reduced the total by 43. The California Secretary of State released a statement, noting, “A sufficient number of verified recall signatures had previously been reached by recall proponents in April. However, in accordance with California election law, voters were given a 30-day period from April 26 to June 8th to request county officials remove their signatures from recall petitions.”

o proceed with the recall, California’s Department of Finance (DOF) must prepare estimates for the cost of a gubernatorial recall administered within a special election and the cost of waiting for the next regularly scheduled election. “These estimated costs must be submitted to the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, the Secretary of State, and the Chairperson of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee (JLBC) by August 5. Once the JLBC has had 30 days to review and comment, the Secretary of State will then certify the sufficiency of signatures pursuant to statute.”
A special election may be held in November, or as early as August. It will be the state of California’s second time recalling a governor. The recall against Newsom has gained bi-partisan support, with former Governor Schwarzenegger stating the recall is not Republican-led as claimed by Newsom.
