GOP Senator Introduces Voter ID Bill In Vaccine Passport States

North Dakota Republican Senator Kevin Cramer is introducing a bill that would require states that are mandating vaccine passports to also implement voter ID laws.
On Tuesday, Senator Cramer explained in a statement:
“If states that take federal money for elections feel the need to make residents verify a piece of information as private as their vaccination status just to return to normalcy, then they should have no problem requiring people to prove they are who they say they are when they go to vote,” Cramer said. This bill “would ensure those states are being consistent about their identification requirements and shine a light on those who hypocritically oppose Voter ID laws but support vaccine passports.”

This proposal comes just after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio mandated vaccine evidence from employees and customers of private businesses in New York City. Many Democrats are calling this effort “The Key to NYC Pass” this bill discriminates against the unvaccinated.
“The Key to New York City. When you hear those words, I want you to imagine the notion that because someone’s vaccinated, they can do all the amazing things that are available in the city,” Mayor Deblasio said. “And if you’re vaccinated, all of that’s going to open up to you. You’ll have the key, you can open the door. If you’re unvaccinated, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in many things,” he added.
Senator Cramer is seeking cosponsors for his voter id mandate bill.
