Former Vice President Mike Pence went further than ever before in openly and bluntly condemning former President Donald Trump on Friday. Labeling Former President Trump as “wrong” in his condemnation of Pence’s conduct and further actions on January 6.

He went on to explain that there are individuals in the Republican Party who believe they can persuade every member of the party to legitimize someone into the president without holding a fair election. Overturning an election for loyalty points was deemed “Unconstitutional” by him.

His remarks come after Trump earlier this week reiterated the incorrect notion that Pence had the right to hand over the election to Trump in his job tallying the electoral college votes from the November election before Congress. “Unfortunately, he did not use that power; he could have overturned the election!” In a statement, Trump claimed this about Pence.

“There are those in our party who believe that as the presiding officer over the joint session of Congress that I possessed unilateral authority to reject Electoral College votes. And I heard this week that former President Trump said I had the right to ‘overturn the election,'” Pence said in a speech Friday to a local chapter of the Federalist Society in Florida.

Former Vice President Mike Pence took the allegations seriously and issued a statement in response to the criticism thrown at him and his policies. He argued that as Vice President, it was his job to conduct a fair and clean election in accordance with his policies.

“President Trump is incorrect. I have no legal standing to invalidate the election “He said. “The president belongs to the people of the United States, and only the people of the United States. And, to be honest, there is practically no idea more un-American than the thought that any single individual might be elected President of the United States.”

“Under the Constitution, I had no right to change the outcome of our election. And Kamala Harris will have no right to overturn the election when we beat them in 2024,” Pence continued.

“As Constitutional conservatives, the American people must know that we will always keep our oath to the Constitution, even when it would be politically expedient to do otherwise; they must know, as the Bible says, that we will ‘keep our oath even when it hurts,” he previously told an audience of conservative lawyers.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, a Christian, stated that we must prioritize our obligations over any sentiments of allegiance that may arise as a result of those duties. To further safeguard his credibility, he mentioned an article.

“Under Article II Section I, elections are conducted at the state level, not by the Congress. The only role Congress has with respect to the Electoral College is to open and count votes submitted and certified by the states. No more, no less,” he said.

In his remarks, Pence stated that it is much more than an election or a candidate, saying, “Men and women, if we lose trust in the Constitution, we will not just lose elections, we will lose our country.”
