Former President Donald Trump’s indictment turned the country on its side last week. Democrats and Never Trumpers celebrated with glee about the possibility of Trump going to prison.

The case is weak on a legal basis according to many legal experts. Politically, however, it has the potential to make things very difficult for the former president.

Mark Levin invited former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on his Fox News show “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday night to discuss the Democrat support for the Trump indictment no matter if it has legal standing or not.

Gingrich said that convicting Trump “is a life-or-death struggle for their political survival.”

“I do think it’s sort of a parallel to crossing the Rubicon, which was the moment when Roman Law was shattered,” Gingrich said.

“I would say that what happened was that Donald Trump came out of nowhere and is the first person to have the courage and the willpower to take on the entire corrupt, extremist establishment, and they’re fighting in the fight of their life — they are faced with extinction.”

Gingrich compared Trump as a threat to the Left and the establishment to former President Reagan and his role as a threat to the Soviet Union.

The Left is so fearful of Trump winning another term as president. Gingrich calls him a “mortal enemy” of every “corrupt, dishonest” bureaucrat, the media, and academia.

“All these people understand this is life-and-death for them, so breaking the law, which is what they’re doing, is just part of the process of desperately trying to stop [Trump].”

Trump’s critics don’t think he can beat President Biden in a general election, but Gingrich pointed out that Biden’s low approval rating proves that Trump can win a second, nonconsecutive term.

“I think what [current conditions in America are] going to do is force the American people to choose between Donald Trump and a future with a corrupt, extremist movement that will tell us how we get to live our lives based on what they want us to do.”

It’s an obvious choice as it should have been in 2020. One side wants to take away your guns, mutilate children, and sick armed IRS agents on you and the other side respects your civil liberties.

The two men discussed Republicans, like former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, not standing by Trump and calling out the travesty being committed.

Levin put it very simply. He said, “I think to myself, these guys are missing exactly what’s taking place in this country, that is, this isn’t your typical election. This isn’t your typical period in history. This is a battle over the republic.”

“The choice is very simple. You have an entire corrupt system prepared to destroy one person to rewrite the law in the way Lavrentiy Beria once told Stalin: ‘Show me the man, I’ll find you the crime,'” Levin continued.

“The truth is, the indictment in New York is an absurdity, and I’ve said over and over, it has nothing to do with the indictment. It has everything to do with Donald Trump.”

You have to ask yourself, “Why are they so afraid of this man?”
