Chicago Police Supt. David Brown held a press conference on Sunday saying “Despite the shock, grief, pain, and sorrow we feel this morning, our brothers and sisters in blue put this uniform on each and every day. They go to work risking everything to serve the people of Chicago, they come to work, willing to run toward things, toward gunfire, and they’re willing to sacrifice their lives to save the lives of perfect strangers.”
The city’s mayor took to Twitter this weekend to blame “gun violence” in a thread of tweets
This incident is the 11th time a police officer has been shot in Chicago in this year so far. Chicago is now one of the most dangerous cities in the country because of rising crimes, many blame this on Mayor Lightfoot’s leadership and cutting the budget for the city’s police department.
