Dr. Fauci Tells Congress the U.S. Could Have Enough Coronavirus Vaccine Doses for Every American by April
On Wednesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, White House coronavirus advisor, said there is “growing optimism” that scientists will find a safe and effective vaccine by the end of the year, or early in 2021. He also expressed optimism that there would be enough vaccine doses for every American by April 2021.
Fauci also told Congress on Wednesday that it still “might take some time” for FDA-approved inoculations for Covid-19 to become available because of the “rigorous clinical testing required” to develop a safe and effective vaccine. He made clear that it is “no guarantee” scientists find a safe and effective vaccine. If scientists do develop a vaccine, he noted that America should expect normalcy around late 2021 and early 2022.
