Leave it to Don Lemon and CNN to politicize a natural disaster. He attempted to suggest that climate change had an impact on the creation of Hurricane Ian.

National Hurricane Center’s acting director Jamie Rohme quickly shut down Lemon’s comment. She said the issue of climate change could be discussed at a different time. However, Lemon pressed and asked again.

She responded, “I don’t think you can link climate change to any one event.”

“On the whole, on the cumulative, climate change may be making storms worse, but to link it to any one event, I would caution against that,” Rohme added.

Lemon wondered, “Okay, well, listen, I grew up there and these storms are intensifying. Something is causing them to intensify.”

Lemon also lost his primetime spot and has been moved to a morning show with other co-hosts. He will co-anchor with two others, including Poppy Harlow and White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins.

“Don Lemon Tonight” ran for eight years, but is now ending. This is a massive change for Lemon as CNN continues to shake up the network.

Lemon responded to critics by saying, “And for all of those that are out there saying, ‘Oh he moved me without my …’ — he asked me and I said yes,” Lemon said. “I could have said no. … I was not demoted. None of that. This is an opportunity for me to creating something around me and I get to work with two great ladies, who you know.”

Chris Licht is making significant changes, as he said he would. They are moving in a direction with less bias and a more centrist view.

Licht announced, “There is no stronger combination of talent than Don, Poppy and Kaitlan to deliver on our promise of a game-changing morning news program.”

“They are each uniquely intelligent, reliable and compelling; together they have a rare and palpable chemistry. Combined with CNN’s resources and global newsgathering capabilities, we will offer a smart, bold and refreshing way to start the day,” he added.

Lemon said it was time to change things up and is excited about his new role.

“I am so appreciative of the ‘Don Lemon Tonight’ team, my wonderful, loyal viewers and everyone who has believed in me,” Lemon said.

“I was honestly floored when Chris Licht asked me to do this and I’m honored by his belief in me. It’s going to be a thrill to take on this challenge with Poppy and Kaitlan,” he said.

Licht has gotten rid of Stelter recently, and people believe John Malone may be behind some of the shakeups at CNN.

He is a top shareholder in the company and wants to see CNN go back to real reporting and centrist viewpoints.
