Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman Claims That TikTok Is A “Better, More Educational” Platform Compared To Twitter, Facebook, Instagram

On Sunday, Democratic Rep. from New York Jamaal Bowman informed MSNBC host Jen Psaki that the Chinese social media platform TikTok is a much “better product” as compared to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. 

While talking with Psaki, Bowman claimed: 

“In my opinion, TikTok is just better product period. Then Facebook, then Instagram, then Twitter, it’s a better product.”

Bowman believes that TikTok is a better platform to approach people and connect with them. He also added that he is much less “hated” on TikTok. 

Bowman argued:

“I get much less hate and vitriol on TikTok, it’s more enjoyable to engage with, it’s more education, and it feels to me like it’s a much better product. “ 

Psaki questioned Bowman if there’s anything for him to “learn” regarding China’s access to TikTok data, which would provoke him to endorse a ban. 

He stated:

“I haven’t seen an evidence of Chinese espionage. There has not been top secret congressional briefing on what China is doing with TikTok. We’ve never had that.” 

He added: 

“At the same time, Facebook, in real time, ignored Russian interference in our 2016 elections. Like that happened, that is fact, that’s documented, but we had no conversation about banning Facebook so we just need to be honest about what is happening.” 

Last month, during a press briefing on Capitol Hill, Bowman voiced out against the ban on TikTok. 

Prior to the press briefing, Bowman overlooked the fuss of the TikTok as “xenophobic.”

The progressive Congressman informed NBC News last month: 

“There are many apps on our phones right now that are Chinese apps. And so the idea that, ‘Oh, TikTok is the boogeyman’ — it’s just part of a political fearmongering that’s happening.”
