Just like much of the information coming out of the Biden administration, news about the activities at our southern border is caked in false optimism.

It’s like starting a fire and then asking for praise for putting it out.

According to the administration’s own data, there were more than 156,000 migrant encounters in January, a number higher than last January and significantly higher than January 2021, where the number of encounters was 78,414.

Regardless, the administration claims that their new border measures are “working.”

Do you know which border policies legitimately worked? Those of the prior administration and the numbers show it.

For Biden and his border czar, there is some good news. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report that the January number set a new record as it was the first month in the last ten where “encounters were below 200,000.”

After a report by Just The News, however, we might have to take those statistics with a grain of salt.

According to the report, former acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf and several current Homeland officials issued a warning.

They say that the Biden administration’s border policy changes “will be altering the data on illegal immigration without actually addressing the problem.”

“The scheme by the administration is to incentivize illegal aliens to seek parole and asylum at the port of entry while reducing the use of aerostats, surveillance balloons, by border agents that will hamper border agents’ ability to track illegal entry.”

Just The News discussed Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas’s new immigration policy.

The policy “would allow as many as 30,000 illegal aliens to receive parole entry at a port of entry while other asylum claims would be considered. Almost two dozen states have sued to argue that this policy is illegal under current immigration law.”

Wolf’s complaint is that the administration is “just simply moving [illegal aliens] from the desert or across the river into a port of entry. But the result remains the same, which is they are doing nothing to deter this type of behavior. And they continue to incentivize and encourage it.”

Wolf also informed the American people of other ways Biden and his team are inviting more and more people into the country.

He said, “They announced last week they are reducing the number of aerostats that the Border Patrol uses, which are big balloons. They are another type of balloon, not Chinese, but another type of balloon that they use along that border for domain awareness so that they understand what’s going on the border. And they track gotaways with that technology as well. So you’re also going to see in the next several months the number of gotaways go significantly down, not because there are less of them, but because the department now has less capability to track them.”

Let’s stop tracking the number of people illegally crossing the border and then report that our policies are working. It sounds like a solid plan.

Wolf estimates that this policy change may show a significant drop in the statistics, but the number of people overwhelming our resources will remain the same with millions of illegals crossing the border under “false asylum” claims.
